I’m not a linguist or philologist. I’m not a teacher or coach, either. I don’t understand teaching techniques, have not utilized any mnemonic system, and never asked: “How to IELTS learn correctly?”
I’ve never been to any English-spoken countries. I’ve never been to them.
I hadn’t begun to learn the language until yesterday). I taught him since the first grade. When he was 10, I attended classes at the British Council (he was still working there at the time), and a year later, I passed an exam called the FCE (First Certificate in English). The FCE is the Cambridge exam that demonstrates the applicant’s English proficiency at the Upper Intermediate (B2) level and does not have an expiration date.
Following that, I attended an institute, and after I graduated in 2013, one of my activities in speaking English was to request a bill at a cafe on a trip abroad.
This was the case until August 2020, when I was eager to get my IELTS Pakistan Academic.
I can I prepare for the IELTS test within a month?
As I began to prepare, I am sure that it was not for nothing that I got the FCE. A solid Upper Intermediate is similar to a fireproof sum. All the above will vanish with time; however, the foundation remains with you. And just one month of intensive practice can be enough to build the “superstructure,” which includes advanced vocabulary and established expressions.
However, if you’ve started to learn the language in the last few months and are looking to get through IETLS with a score of 7.0 and above, you’ll have to work extremely hard. And even a month of study in this situation is not enough. It’s not about your skills or the ingenuity of the method by which you plan. It’s about the process of learning a language.
One of the aspects that examiners are interested in is the naturalness of speech. How effortlessly, naturally, and without errors, you could be able to communicate even when you don’t know the meaning of a word or the answer to an issue. It is a skill that can’t be replicated or learned.
You can quickly speak any foreign language, but only if it is firmly embedded within the muscles, bones, and consciousness. You must be able to think in terms of language. And this, unfortunately, is the moment.
Don’t trust those who promise to help you prepare for the exam in only two weeks. And if you’re only beginning to learn a new language, complete it to Intermediate. The rest will follow quickly.
Are tests evil?
The most important thing is that before the test, I was anxious, not due to the lack of knowledge but rather because of the test itself. English tests have always scared me. I could not comprehend their logic and often committed mistakes.
However, language tests are built on specific techniques. The most critical issue is to understand the process. For TESOL Pakistan, it is clear and accessible in the open domain (for instance, on the test website). Knowing the requirements for every block and what must be completed to achieve an exact score is essential.
Additionally, the human element isn’t tested. Yes, in the speaking block, you speak to an actual person. However, the person you talk to strictly follows the script, and an audio recorder records the conversations. Therefore, the scenario where it is the case that, for example, the test taker did not agree with you is virtually impossible. Once that is done, the examinations will no longer appear as if they were a bit gruesome.
Do tests prove an actual proficiency in the language?
It appears that the level of your speaking ability is measurable only through one part of the Speaking block. As I mentioned, the test taker’s job is to determine if you communicate in English quickly and naturally. If you are able or not, you cannot. The remaining blocks demonstrate preparation instead of factual information.
Exam preparation is an excellent method to increase your proficiency.
Do I require a teacher to study for the exam?
When I found out I would be taking IETLS immediately, I rushed to find tutors. We practiced for a month, and I enrolled in the pool for free. If you’re at decent levels with little or no practice, what you need from a coach is the following:
Let me know what you should do,
Make sure you proofread your writing,
To remind you that you are unique and capable of doing it (at the very least, for me, it proved to be the most important thing I learned during the classes).
All the rest can be found on the internet. It’s no cost and for just a few dollars.
If your level is lower, you will need to raise it down to Upper Intermediate with a teacher or a teacher, and then you can complete it yourself.
How can you learn to speak without having a speech coach?
To speak, you…. must talk :). Talk to anyone (and all) about:
Alongside loved ones and friends,
In the chat club and celebrities at work,
Simulators on the Internet (like these),
With animals, objects, and your own body. In the second scenario, you can do an excellent exercise: in the morning, list your goals for your day in front of the mirror. Then, at night you can summarize your day.
